SpringonBüyükada:NewSeasonBeans&Open-AirCoffee
Spring changes Büyükada before summer does. The crowds haven't arrived yet, the light is different, and the café tables open up to air that still has some coolness in it. It's one of the best times to visit.
The Island in Spring
March to May brings warmth without the summer density. The island's own pace — already slower than Istanbul — slows down further. There's more space at the tables, more quiet on the paths, and a quality of light that sits somewhere between sharp winter and bleached summer.
Coffee in the Open Air
Spring is when the outdoor seating at Julius comes fully into its own. The temperature is right for sitting outside without discomfort, and the air carries enough sea in it to make the moment particular. An espresso or pour over outside in April has a quality that the air-conditioned summer version doesn't quite match.
New Season Beans
Spring into early summer typically brings new crop availability from some origins — particularly Central American and some African harvests. At Julius, this means the menu may reflect seasonal sourcing. Check the current menu for what's available: View Menu.
What to Drink in Spring
The temperature still favours hot drinks in the morning. Espresso or a filter coffee alongside breakfast works well. By late afternoon, cold brew starts making more sense as the warmth builds — but you're not yet at the "only cold drinks" summer mode.
Spring on Büyükada is quieter than summer and, in some ways, better for it. Julius in April or May is a particularly good version.
